I finished this painting in between doing custom orders. It is oil paint on hardboard (it is 3/8" thick with a special hole in the back for hanging, no frame needed). It measures 8x8.
I am doing some artwork on a larger scale in the hopes of getting my art into a gallery. This piece was orginally done in 5x7 color pencils. I decided to give it a try in oil paints on hardboard. This piece measures 18x24. "Out of the Past, Into the Future"
This is 7x7 oil painting on gesso hard board. It is another Trompe-l'œil, "trick the eye". I love the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three-dimensions, instead of actually being a two-dimensional painting. The objects in the painting are life size which adds to the illusion."
New name...same paintings. Most of my pieces will be done in oil paints. Some of my offerings are color pencil paintings Why do I call it a painting if it is a color pencil drawing? Because, it is done in layers with the color pencil and then using mineral spirits to spread out the color with a brush or swab giving it a washed effect, more like watercolor than color pencils.
If anyone is interested in learning to do art the way I do it, I have a series of "HOW TO" Dvds for sale at http://www.stepbystepdvds.com/ . I also will be adding a members site that will include all kinds of art tips, tricks, videos and more, soon.
I am an artist and a writer. My first book, Carrie and Hope was published April 2011, followed by Emily's Art and Soul in June 2011. I have been creating art since I was a small child, but the writing is a more recent passion. I am glad you are taking this artist journey with me.
